Maria Matijasevic, MD

Hi! I am originally from NYC, but graduated from UC Irvine medical school. After a year of family medicine training in Seattle, I switched to pediatrics and completed my residency at Children’s Hospital and Research Center in Oakland, California (with Dr. Mike Favazza!). My professional focus has been working with underserved populations and international healthcare, with a particular interest in adolescent medicine. I have spent time working Central America, The Caribbean, and the Philippines.  I completed a 3 month locum tenens stint in the pediatrics department at LBJ Tropical Medical Center January-March 2011, which was my first stop in my 1 year globe-trotting tour!

When away from the hospital and clinic, I enjoy dancing and learning to surf. I have an unhealthy addiction to reality TV, hearts of palm, and Wii Let’s Dance (ask Dr. Favazza to show you).

LBJ is a great place to see some unusual cases, and to feel that your efforts are really making an impact. The staff is supportive, positive, and made me feel like I was part of the team right from the start.

Please contact me through Dr. Marrone or Dr. Favazza if you have any questions about locums in American Samoa. I’m happy to email or skype. Cheers!
